Three different things to do in Birmingham if bored - Part 2

Welcome to the longly anticipated second part of my trio of different things to do in Birmingham if you are bored.

#2 Go to Broadway Plaza

Broadway plaza in an entertainment district on the outskirts of Birmingham. If you take the number 9 bus route into town you will hit the plaza before the city centre. In case you are unaware a plaza is basically a town square designed for people to meet in. What is special about Broadway plaza is it is exceedingly modern and cutting edge, only being completed and unveiled to the public in the mid 2000s. The 80 million pound district contains an extreme 12 screen AMC cinema and an awesome Bowlplex bowling ally which is extra cool as this also includes a video game arcade on the premises. It's might be time to re-test your skills on the classic games, air hockey, Sega Rally, and the radical VIRTUA COP!

There are plenty of places to eat at the plaza, ranging from low to medium price ranges such as Subway, Dominos Pizza and one of my personal favourites, the delicious Frankie & Benny's. The plaza also has a couple of pubs and a night club, however it is difficult to recommend Broadway Plaza for night life in comparison to the ever fruitful Broadstreet.

What sets Broadway Plaza apart from other plazas is the interesting activities you can do there. In the centre of the plaza there are a couple of outdoor table tennis sets which you can play for free. This is a totally extreme way to let of some steam after your film or bowling game. It is also really funny to smash the table tennis balls hard so they fly in to the bushes forcing you to rummage through them. In the summer time they also have this weird mobile beach where you can pay a couple of quid and lie on a deck chair for an hour, I have never tried this as it has always been damp when I have visited the plaza so if anyone has experienced this mobile beach wonder please enlighten me.

Overall, it's hard to go wrong with Broadway plaza if your looking for a good time during the day. It may even be a cool place to stay if you are ever visiting Birmingham as there are two hotels at the Plaza. I rate Broadway Plaza even higher than Chinatown so do your self a favour and give it a shot!
